Albert Reese Mix
Grand Ledge Albert Reese Mix, 82, of rural Grand Ledge, MI, passed away surrounded by his loving family on September 19, 2013 in Lansing, MI. He was born June 20, 1931 in Nashville, MI and raised in Vermontville. Al was retired from 
General Motors and was an avid hunter, fisherman and baseball player; loved gardening, playing his saxophone and clarinet; enjoyed singing and traveling with his wife, Ruth. The love Al showed to all of his family and friends was the most important for him. He was talented in so many areas, was a kind, gentle, caring and much loved man. Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Ruth, sons Thomas and Trent, daughter Teresa (Benny) Knighten; six grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren; sister Helen Wellman, brothers David (Mary Lou) Mix and Timothy (Linda) Shetenhelm. He was predeceased by parents and two brothers. A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, September 24, 2013 - 2:00 p.m. at the Peters & Murray Funeral Home, Grand Ledge, with visitations from 12:00 p.m. until service time. Marvin E. Davis of Delta Twp. Went to meet his Lord on Monday, July 15, 2013. He was born on Sept. 18, 1917 in Mulliken, MI to Ellis and Cora Maude (David) Davis. He retired from Oldsmobile. Marvin was preceded in death by his wife Shirley, son Robert, grandsons: Steven Davis and Ricky Lefevre. Marvin is survived by one son Dennis of Grand Ledge, 3 daughters: Connie (Rick) Lefevre, Nancy (Bernie) Sermak of St. Johns, and Sandy (Rodger) Dell of Camden, TN, 16 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and 6 

great great grandchildren. Also 2 sisters: Dorothy Hoisington of Grand Ledge and Mildred Beech of Grand Ledge and special friends, Tom and Janet Milan. He will be greatly missed by his faithful companion "B-lizzie" A thank you to all his caregivers for making our Dad more comfortable in his last years. Maynard L. "Smitty" Smith Lansing Passed away on May 29, 2011 at the age of 85. Smitty was born March 4, 1926 in Lansing, MI to Olin and Viola (Casner) Smith. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII and retired after 40 years withGeneral Motors. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vernecia, 2 daughters and 3 brothers. He is survived by 3 daughters, 2 step-daughters, 1 son, 1 step-son, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and 2 brothers. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 2, 2011, 5:00 p.m. at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, 900 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing with visitation 1 hour prior. Charles R. "Tuna" Jegla Portland Charles R. "Tuna" Jegla passed away February 2, 2011 in Lansing. Chuck was born April 19, 1949 in Lansing, Michigan to the late Lewis and Eleanor (Straiger) Jegla. Chuck was a graduate of Waverly High School Class of 1967 and retired from General Motors. He enjoyed taking fishing trips for salmon to the Betsie River near Frankfort, annual family vacations in Detour, MI, and if you needed something repaired or fixed, he was your guy. Chuck is survived by his wife of 19 years, Carol (Schneider); son, Charles Jr. (Trish) of Sidney; daughters, Tracey (Scott) Jegla-Brooks of Dimondale, and Allison Jegla of Portland; grandchildren, C.J., Courtney, Aaron, Hannah, Sophia, and Addison; brothers, Mitchell of Troy, Lew (Randalyn) and Tom both of DeWitt. Beatrice C. Long Eaton Rapids Age 89 died Saturday, November 13, 2010 at the Dimondale Nursing Center. Born July 17, 1921 in Eaton Rapids, the daughter of David and Ethel (Zentmyer) Peck. Bea was a member of the First Congregational Church in Eaton Rapids and a member of the Farmer's Hall of Fame in Delton. Bea worked many jobs in her life from Horner Woolens, Eaton Stamping, Oldsmobile, Nick's Pizza, Stewarts Flower Shop and McDonalds. Proceeding her in death were her husband, George in 2005; daughter, Kathy Bennett and son, Dean Long; sister, Wynetta Learch and brother, Ivan Peck. Surviving are daughter, Patricia (Jerry) Slentz; son, Victor Long; daughter-in-law, Shug Long; son-in-law, Gary Bennett; 9 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Richard Learch; many nieces and nephews and special niece Charlene James. Ethna (Geovanes) Haggerty GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN - ALWAYS IN OUR HEARTS On October 30, 2010 the world said goodbye to a lovely lady who gave so much of herself to others, while family and special friends were at her side. She was preceded in death by: her infant daughter, Nanatte; by sisters, Mary Metes, Kathryn Stavros, Bessie Vlahakis and Pauline Geovanes; brothers, George and Crist Geovanes; and niece, Catherine Paganini. She is survived by her daughter, Andrea Esch, and son-in-law, Gene Esch; niece, Sophia (Jerry) Beadle; nephews, Tom (Yvonne) Metes, George (Sarah) Stavros, James (Susanne) Stavros; and several great nieces and nephews; special friends, Mary Volakakis; and her special God-grandchildren, Alli Knot, Michael Esch, Andrea Doneth, and Danielle Doneth-Guty. Ethna graduated from Eastern High School in 1938 and was Lansing All-City Champion in Tennis Doubles. She loved all sports and was an outstanding softball player. She retired from General Motors after 30 years of service, and also was an active member of the UAW, a very committed member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, an active member of the Daughters of Penelope, Philoptochos Society and a member of the Church Choir. After retiring, Ethna enjoyed walking at the Lansing Mall where she met many new friends. In the winter, she travelled to Florida where she loved to go on cruises, walk the beach, while attending and volunteering at the St. Catherine Greek Church in Melbourne, where she became very involved with the success of their Greek Festival. She was a mentor to many of her daughter's friends. The family thanks all who visited her during her stay at Sparrow Hospice House and the staff who lovingly cared for her.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in loving memory of Ethna may be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church or to Sparrow Hospice House of Mid-Michigan.

Robert "Bruce" Unkefer

Robert "Bruce" Unkefer East Lansing Robert Bruce Unkefer passed away on October 29, 2010 at the age of 55. Bruce was born in Lawrence, KS on November 9, 1954 to Robert and Martha Unkefer. In 1956, he moved to East Lansing with his family and remained a lifelong resident. A beloved husband, father and brother, he had a great passion for gymnastics, golf and music. He graduated from East Lansing High School in 1973 and earned a Bachelor's degree in kinesiology from Michigan State University in 1998. After a yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer, he is survived by wife Irene; and children Erin, Robert and Phyllis. Bruce is also survived by siblings Evelyn, Clifford (Pat), Phyllis (Larry) Shance, and Virginia (Douglas Sego). Bruce was an employee of General Motors (UAW locals 1618 and 1753) for over 20 years in production and later as a journeyman electrician. With a gift for encouraging young people, he coached and judged gymnastics throughout his life. He was an active member of Blacksoil Church.  Flavio A. "Floyd" Guerrero

 
Flavio A. "Floyd" Guerrero age 61, of Alma, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2010 at his home with his family by his side.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
Flavio was born May 7, 1949 in LaVilla, Texas the son of Cayatano and Ramona (Aleman) Guerrero. He was a 1968 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and was married to Matilde Martinez on February 19, 1972. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War from April of 1969 until his discharge in April of 1971. He continued to serve in the National Guard in Alma for 10 years and later with the Aviation Unit of the National Guard in Grand Ledge for the next 28 years and went overseas as part of Iraqi Freedom for a year in 2004. Flavio worked for General Motors in Lansing as part of their service parts operation for 33 years and retired in 2007.
Flavio was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alma and the VFW in Lansing. He enjoyed spending time with his family, going to Michigan football games, golfing, playing basketball and dancing.
He is survived by his wife, Matilde, two daughters, Julie Guerrero of St. Louis and Nina Guerrero of Alma, two sons, Flavio (Kerri) Guerrero of St. Louis and Cisco Guerrero of Alma, a grandson, Zane Guerrero, his mother, Ramona Guerrero of Alma, two brothers, Juan Guerrero of Alma and Chris (Renee) Guerrero of St. Louis and four sisters, Amada (Adislado) Garcia, Rita Jane Castillo, Julliana Nieto and Mary (Francisco Jr.) Martinez all of Alma and many nieces and nephews.

 Clara Hazel Parr Lansing Born January 11, 1926, in Jackson; died September 19, 2010, at the age of 84. During WWII Clara was employed in a factory making bomb releases and after the war the factory made toys. She also cared for children in her home for several years. Surviving are her husband, James; daughters, Sharon Parr and Laurie (Ron) Walker; son, Richard (Lori) Parr; grandchildren, Joshua (Amy), Jason, Jamie, Jessica, Heather, Brandon, Jaykob, Stacy and Jordan; great-grandchildren, Kameron and Grayson; and her sister, Maxine Derr. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 24, at 11 a.m. at South Church of the Nazarene, 401 W. Holmes Rd., Lansing, with the Rev. Dr. Harold DeMott, Pastor, officiating. Phyllis E. White, DeWitt Age 78; passed away September 7, 2010; born February 25, 1932 in Manton, Michigan to George and Sybil Letts. Phyllis was employed at General Motors in Lansing. She enjoyed entertaining, cooking and crafts. Phyllis loved spending time with her family and liked to travel with her husband throughout the country and to their summer home in Gulliver, MI. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene of 58 years; parents; grandson, Brook Banks; and son-in-law, Donald Banks.  Donald Ray Clark Jr. Lansing Beloved Father and Grandfather, died on June 29, 2010 at the age of 53. He retired from General Motors. Ronald R. Royston, 53, of Charlotte, MI went to the loving arms of Jesus on June 22, 2010 surrounded by his family and friends. Ron was born June 15, 1957 to Ernam and Virginia (Holley) Royston. He retired from General Motors Warehouse in April of 2009. He was an avid outdoorsman, especially enjoying hunting and watching for his "30 point buck".  Paul L. Bailor Dimondale Age 74, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2010. Paul was born February 13, 1936, in Lansing, Michigan the son of Everett and Cora (Hill) Bailor. He was very proud to be a Marine and serve his country. Paul retired from General Motors after 30 plus years of service. A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend will be dearly missed by all that knew him. Paul was preceded in death by his loving wife, Judy in 2008 and father, Everett Bailor in 1989. Betty J. Anderson Age 79, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2010 surrounded by her family.  Willie Pearl Woods Lansing Age 89, a resident of Lansing since 1947, departed her earthly life on Tuesday, March 16, 2010. She was a retiree of General Motors and a member of Tabernacle of David COGIC.  Mary Alice Wilson Eaton Rapids Her long battle is over and now she is resting with "The King." Age 69, passed away in Charlotte, April 10, 2010. She was born in Deland, IL, September 8, 1940, the daughter of Leo Leland and Daisy Marie (Stiverson) Chaney. Mary worked at the GM Service Parts Plant for 25 years before retiring. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, loved to listen to music, especially Elvis, and most enjoyed taking her grandchildren up north. Mary is survived by her sons, Jeff (Kathy) Wilson of Eaton Rapids, Kelly Wilson of Burton, MI; grandchildren, Kody and Kiel Wilson of Eaton Rapids; brothers, Rick (Patty) Chaney, Bud (Shirley) Chaney; and several nieces and nephews.   Annette S. Cooper, Eaton Rapids Age 59, of Eaton Rapids died Saturday, March 27, 2010 unexpectedly at her home. Born August 24, 1950 in Eaton Rapids the daughter of Donald and Dora (Williams) Chapman. Annette graduated from the Eaton Rapids High School in 1968. She worked 30 years in Parts Supply for General Motors retiring in January of 2007. She had a devoted work ethic at General Motors and with her local union, Local 1753 in Lansing. Mildred J. Morrison (mother of Conrad Morrison). Age 81 of Shaftsburg, passed away on Friday, March 19, 2010 at Ingham Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Perry Chapel. Rev. Ray Sundell officiated, with burial following in Oak Plains Cemetery, Shaftsburg. She married Fred Morrison in Angola, Indiana on April 11, 1952 and together raised two sons. Mr. Morrison passed away on June 30, 1997. Mrs. Morrison worked for Clark Paper Co. in Munising in her younger years. From there she went on to work for Adams Potato Chip in Lansing. She also Co-owned Morrison's Drive-In Ice Cream Shop in Shaftsburg with her husband from the late 60's to early 70's and served as Head Cook for many years at the Perry High School. She is survived by her two sons, Conrad of Shaftsburg and Brian of Haslett; sister, Evelyn Peters; and many nieces and nephews. Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association. Melissa Stahl, Age 70, passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2010. Born June 2, 1939 in Eaton Rapids to Harold and Jennie Stahl, Melissa was a former Stock Chaser in the Automotive Industry. She was a NASCAR enthusiast, and a fan of Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr. Melissa is preceded in death by her parents; brother Fred Stahl, two brothers and two sisters.   Age 82, passed away on March 28, 2010 at Ingham Regional Medical Center.  Born August 12, 1927 in Deerfield Township, Mecosta County, Michigan to Dewey A. and Reva B. (Collins) Marlatt.  He was a WWII Navy veteran and a member of American Legion Post 238, Holt.
   He was employed by General Motors and an active member of UAW Local 652, the Michigan Secretary of State Office and the American Federation of State , County, and Municipal Employees.He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Annette Marie Crites (Reuben).  He is survived by his sons, Dewey (Somjit) Marlatt, Haslett, MI; Michael Marlatt, Bellevue, WA; Patrick (Sandie) Marlatt, Everett, WA; 1 nephew, 3 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren.

Delta Twp. Age 55, passed away on Friday, July 16, 2010. Donald was born June 24, 1955 in Lansing, MI the son of Robert and Doris (Moffett) Arwood. Don was a Lansing resident all of his life and a graduate of Waverly High School. He retired from General Motors after 30 years of service. He was a huge MSU fan who loved to garden. A loving father, son, brother, grandfather, uncle and friend who will be dearly missed by all. Don loved his grandchildren. They were required to call him "Grandpooba", which gave him great pleasure. Don was preceded in death by his father, Robert Arwood; Grandma Pluma; father-in-law, George Brownell and brother-in-law, Darwin Brownlee. He is survived by his loving daughters, Sara Wilson and Amy (John) Henry; mother, Doris Arwood; brother, Bobby Arwood; sisters, Teri and Debbie; grandchildren, Alex Wilson, Emma and Liliana Henry; mother of his children, Rhonda (Ed) Sosnowski; mother-in-law, Marilyn O'Neill, sister-in-laws, Denise Brownlee, Angela (Bruce) Witwer and Michele (Chuck) Hill; chosen family, Dan Phinney and Natalie Alane; special friend, Dawn Backes. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, July 21, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at the Palmer, Bush & Jensen Family Funeral Home, Delta Chapel. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, July 20, 2010, from 12-2 PM and 6-8 PM at the funeral home and once again one hour prior to the funeral. Memorial contributions can be sent to Michigan State University Spartan Scholarship Challenge in memory of Don. Condolences can be sent to the family at
