Meals on Wheels really needs YOUR help
Posted On: Oct 08, 2015

You may have heard of the Meals on Wheels program, but did you know that the UAW helped create the Tri-County Office on Aging?
In the fall of 1973 The UAW leadership and retirees were instrumental in establishing a program in the City of Lansing to provide information, referral for services and advocacy for older adults.  The city program went on to become the Tri-County Office on Aging.     Even today, without the support of UAW members helping deliver meals and advocating on behalf of others, our program would not be as successful as it is.
Anita Rehil a proud UAW local 602 member, who volunteers for Meals on Wheels said, “I enjoy seeing the seniors faces light up and smile when I deliver a meal, for some I am the only person that they see.  It makes me feel so good and delivering is so easy.”
The Tri-County Office on Aging feeds 3,000 seniors across Ingham, Clinton and Eaton Counties every day.
Sign up to be a Meals on Wheels volunteer, it takes as little as one hour per month during the lunch time period. To volunteer, go to their website or call (517) 887-1460. Also see their website for news of their upcoming fund-raiser and/or see their Facebook page.
